Downtown Tampa Waterfront - Mayor of Downtown Tampa

Tampa is an exciting, vibrant city with many things to do and see. Summer is the perfect season for both visitors and residents to take time to discover our great city and all of its amenities.

A visit to our ever-growing downtown area, or the exciting Channelside and Ybor entertainment districts, will provide you with plenty to see and do. Of particular note is the completed downtown Riverwalk that connects multiple venues along our scenic riverfront. The Riverwalk leads visitors to a series of recreational and cultural attractions including the showcase Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park providing an opportunity for residents and visitors to relax, play, attend community events, and enjoy amazing views of Tampa and the Hillsborough River. Along the Riverwalk you will find a variety of amenities that feature interactive fountains, playgrounds, bike share stations, water taxi stops, and opportunities to visit the Glazer Children's Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, and the Tampa Bay History Center. These state-of-the-art facilities honor our community's history, heritage, and commitment to the arts. The Riverwalk now leads all the way up to Water Works Park which features a children's splash pad, playground, performance space, and the beautifully restored Ulele Springs where shorebirds and an occasional manatee may be spotted.

This year, we are excited to introduce the new Perry Harvey, Sr. Park, serving as a tribute to our city's rich African American history through interactive art and community activities. Special activities are also scheduled for our in-town area during this time of year including the Mayor's Food Truck Fiesta, Ybor Saturday Market and Yoga in Ybor, Hyde Park Village Fresh Market, spectacular performances at the David A. Straz Center for the Performing Arts and Stageworks Theatre, concerts and Tampa Bay Storm arena football games at Amalie Arena and the annual Independence Day Firework Celebration at Channelside.

As the nation's 53rd largest city, Tampa offers a unique, exciting experience for all its visitors and is definitely included on the itineraries of travelers looking for a memorable place to visit during the summer months. Whether you are a visitor or a resident, I hope you take advantage of all our great city has to offer.
